I am ecstatic about the shimmering glass tiles in my swimming pool!

Recently I laid glass tiles in my swimming pool because of its shimmering beauty, especially when submerged. The rich vibrant colors that glisten from beneath the crystal clear water never fails to enchant homeowners and the visitors. It is this superior appearance of glass tile that motivates people to undertake these beautiful but large projects. As I am making a huge investment in my property, obviously I expect the tile installation to be flawless and long-lasting. Therefore I employed an interior designer who was well-versed in the intricacies of glass tile installation.

While glass tile has its own, hereditary quirks when it comes to installation, an exterior application, such as a swimming pool, requires even more special attention and equipments. The biggest challenge for installing glass tile outdoors is glass’ relatively high expansion coefficient. This means that glass expands and contracts at a greater rate than other materials like ceramic etc. Since the tile is placed to the bottom of the pool while it’s expanding and contracting, it can easily crack and break if the cement it’s laid into doesn’t equivalently stretch with it. However, with the advancement in technology, we have several right recommendations so that the pool installation experiences minimal complications.

The single most important step in putting glass tile in a swimming pool is choosing the perfect installation materials. In order to compensate for the expansion and contraction of glass tiles, special thin-set adhesives and additives have been developed that expand and contract with the glass.

Whether you are installing glass tile for outdoor application, like accent in the garden, or on the bed of your swimming pool, you need to keep in mind the specific challenges that comes with using glass tile outdoors. These challenges can be done away with the use the proper installation materials. Following these important issues, you are sure enjoying a super swimming experience.
